How to Choose the Right Guitar Strings in Weston, Florida

Here at ProMusic Plus we find that when people come in Our Music Store In Weston for guitar strings, they really don’t know what kind to buy. Often putting the wrong kind of strings on the wrong kind of guitar.

What guitar strings are right for you?

First off, you need to know what kind of guitar you own. Are you Taking Guitar Classes? That will help you in deciding what guitar strings are right for you. Do you need nylon or classical strings, acoustic or electric strings? Both classic guitar and acoustic guitars are acoustic (meaning they make sound without electricity), the difference is the string types they require. Classical guitars only use nylon strings, and acoustic guitars use steel strings. Classical guitars have a wider neck and no truss rod neck.

The key to understanding acoustic guitar strings is to find out which of the categories your acoustic guitar fits into. Some acoustic guitars use three steel strings and three nylon strings and other acoustic guitars use all metal strings. Acoustic steel strings like phosphor bronze 80/20 shouldn’t be used on a classical guitar because the string tension is to high and can harm the guitar. Nylon strings on the other hand don’t vibrate enough or produce much sound on an electric guitar. Dreadnought guitars like the one below on the left sound great with medium gauge strings while the grand auditorium body style are designed for a lighter gauge.

If your guitar is anelectric guitar then nickel wound strings like D’Addario EXL 110 or 125 are common gauge or as some say, the industry standard. The recommendation that ProMusic Plus in Weston makes is to buy D’Addario Phosphor Bronze like the EJ15 or EJ26. For Acoustic guitars the EJ 80/20, or Elixir 80/20 Polyweb or Nanoweb strings provide warm well balance sounds. For Electric Guitars try the D’Addario EXL Nickel Wound, or Elixir Nano or Polyweb anti-rust guitar strings. And for classical guitars the D’Addario Pro-Arte or La Bella Classic strings are excellent choices. Folk guitar players choose the D’Addario folk nylon, Martin or La Bella nylons are also great options for great sound.

If you are looking for acoustic, electric or nylon strings come into ProMusic Plus in Weston where there is always a great selection of guitar strings in stock. Located just 4 doors to the right of the Weston 8 Cinema.
